THANK YOU FOR 1,000 VIEWS!! 10.31.05

When *WannabeSpiderMan asked if I wanted to have a go at coloring in his gorgeous realistic drawing of Vash the Stampede, I nearly fainted with joy. So thank you, Dale, for letting me have this opportunity to flex my Photoshop muscles. I'm a newbie at certain things with Photoshop; I thought this would be a great learning experience as I've never colored in pencil art before.

Dale's own colored version [link] of his art really helped me a lot in my attempt at coloring this as I didn't have color references to things like the undersuit and metal arm.

I purposely made his hair and eyes that bright; I wanted him to have a hint of "anime/comic" feel. Just a hint. I chose to change the lips a bit; I had difficulty painting them and had to go a different route; I appreciate Dale allowing me artistic license in this regard. The duster simply refused to look aged and dusty for me like it did for Dale; it insisted on looking bright and shiny, so I'm presuming Vash has just had it dry cleaned. *sigh* I didn't intentionally make his face look older, but it ended up that way; I'm going with the thought that hey, he's over 100 years old, it's acceptable that his face shows a little bit of age, ne..? But I do hope I didn't marr his youthful attractiveness too much.

Since this was for practice and learning, all critiques and opinions are welcome and appreciated. (I'm bracing myself for the "no light souce" comments; it's something I always have trouble with.) *grin*

Again, thanks to Dale Norvell for allowing me to color his truly magnificent Trigun artwork.

The coat..... just drycleaned? hahahaha. I was going to say he just got it diped in some of they Rit dye or something. It is quite bright. As for your light source, it looks fine to me. Looks like its coming from in front of him.
Amazed as always, I don't know how you do it. Patience I'm guessing.

The detail is amazing. Maybe I'm just too familiar, but the face threw me. Beautiful illustration anyway.

"Let's eat, grandpa." "Let's eat grandpa."

Punctuation.

It saves lives.

I'm sorry, I don't understand what you mean here. Would you please explain? Thanks hon!

I just really, really must've wanted that coat to be RED. *looks at it thoughtfully* Each time I tried hueing it down or adding darker colors it just didn't look right. So I left it all bright and shiny. *grin* As for how I did it... I have no idea. I'm just farting around here. I really need to do more tutorials...
